Wushu
At YISS, Wushu offers students a dynamic platform to develop strength, speed, power, and flexibility through disciplined training sessions. In our school's Wushu programme, students strive for both athletic excellence and strong character through the mastery of traditional Chinese martial arts.
Beyond the physical agility and coordination required for complex routines, our members cultivate "Wu De" (武德) – the martial arts code of ethics. We aim to nurture individuals who are disciplined, humble and resilient, always striving for their personal best. Our CCA is a vibrant community for students who share a passion for learning, practicing, and promoting the rich heritage of Chinese martial arts.
Key Programmes
a) National School Games (NSG)
Through rigorous training and performance excellence, our students develop technical precision, mental focus, and physical mastery. Preparing for the NSG requires months of meticulous practice to perfect every stance, jump, kick and transition. This journey teaches our athletes the importance of resilience and composure under pressure, as they strive for personal breakthroughs while representing YISS with pride and sportsmanship.
b) Public and School-Based Performances
Beyond competitions, our students are given various platforms to showcase their skills and talents through vibrant performances during school events, such as Chinese New Year and Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations, Speech Day, and Open House. Furthermore, our Wushu team also receives invitations to perform at community events and external showcases. These opportunities allow our members to develop confidence, stage presence, and a sense of showmanship in front of diverse audiences. Working together to choreograph synchronized group routines fosters a strong sense of unity and a "Wushu family" spirit, as students learn to move as one to promote the grace and power of Chinese martial arts.
