Girls' Brigade
At Yusof Ishak Secondary School, we are proud to be home to the 8th Company of the Girls' Brigade Singapore. Guided by the Brigade’s core values of Honour, Courage, Humility, and Deep Generosity, our girls engage in a wide range of programmes and activities designed to help them realise their fullest potential. In recognition of their advocacy efforts as part of the Vape-Free Ambassador Programme, they were featured in The Straits Times in 2025, reflecting their commitment to making a positive social impact.
Key Programmes
a) GB Friend in Deed:
Our girls took ownership of the GB Fund in Deed fundraising initiative, planning and organising in-school efforts to raise funds for community beneficiaries. Beyond fundraising, the girls personally purchased, packed, and delivered essential items, allowing them to experience the spirit of service firsthand. To bring warmth and encouragement, they thoughtfully painted cards and penned well wishes for the recipients, demonstrating empathy and a genuine desire to make a difference.
b) Outdoor Adventure Camp:
As part of their holistic development, the girls also participated in a 2-day, 1-night outdoor adventure camp filled with engaging and challenging activities. The camp provided opportunities for them to build resilience, teamwork, and confidence through high-element challenges and experiential learning tasks. One of the highlights was a hands-on raft-building activity, where the girls worked collaboratively to construct their own rafts using simple materials. The experience not only strengthened their practical abilities but also fostered perseverance, camaraderie, and a spirit of adventure.
